I love walking on the island of Stromboli. There are three levels of hikes: the challenging one 900 metres to the top of the mountain so you look down on the live volcano, the 2-3 hour hike at 400 metres along the hillside where you hear the volcano rumbling and the 40 minute walk up to the Osservatoio restaurant.

I love sitting on the Osservatoio patio after a walk, looking back over the sea at the sunset, dining on their patio, and as the sky darkens, looking up to see the volcano hurling its fire into the night sky. Spectacular experiences!
