There are three levels of hikes: the challenging one 900 metres to the top of the mountain so you look down on the live volcano, the 2-3 hour hike at 400 metres along the hillside where you hear the volcano rumbling and the 40 minute walk up to the Osservatoio restaurant. I love sitting on the Osservatoio patio after a walk, looking back over the sea at the sunset, dining on their patio, and as the sky darkens, looking up to see the volcano hurling its fire into the night sky.
