This is a country which has something to offer for everyone. From energetic skiing holidays in the Val D’Aosta to relaxing villa holidays in Tuscany or why not take a romantic break in Venice, Rome and Pisa or a shopping trip to the bustling cities of Milan and Turin. The choice is yours.
With many of the low-cost airlines flying to Italy from most major UK airports you can afford to pop over for just a weekend.
If you fancy holidaying in Italy there are many different types of properties to choose from. Puglia for instance is renowned for its trulli homes (popular among the English & German tourists) which are stone dwellings with a conical roof. The style of construction is specific to the Itria Valley in the Murge area of the Italian region of Puglia. They may be found in the towns of Alberobello, Locorotondo, Fasano, Cisternino, Martina Franca and Ceglie Messapica.
In Tuscany you will find plenty of villas with swimming pools. Imagine spending the afternoon exploring the Chianti vineyards and coming home to a Tuscan villa with a swimming pool in the evening.
If it’s a city break you’re after then you can visit Rome and take in the Colosseum, the Vatican City and the Sistine Chapel or maybe Venice, The City of Water where you can take a ride in a gondola or visit the famous St Marks Square.
The climate in Italy varies; in summer the Northern parts of Italy are warm with occasional rainfall, the central region is somewhat stifled by humidity and the south scorches under the dry heat. In winter, conditions in Milan, Turin and Venice are dominated by cold, damp and fog and Tuscany’s winter temperatures approach freezing, while temperatures in the south of the country are more favourable averaging 50-60ºF (10-20ºC). The temperature in Rome during January is between 38-56ºF (3-13ºC) and in August 62-86ºF (17-30ºC). With most Italians taking their vacations during August and many shops and restaurants closing, this is perhaps a month to avoid visiting Italy.
